Atheist Songs is my attempt to let people know how many great songs there are in the world that have a strong atheist, agnostic, skeptic, freethinker, pastafarian, etc. theme to them.

I was raised a Mormon and one of my "weaknesses" was always listening to the devil's music. I used to feel a couple of different things about this. Sometimes it was guilt because I was listening to something that would definitely displease or offend the almighty. Sometimes, I felt very sophisticated by being able to listen to and deconstruct messages that I knew I didn't agree with.

Somewhere, there's a Sunday School teacher, a Seminary teacher, and one of my friend's parents saying, "I told you that that awful music you were listening to would be your undoing."

However, it wasn't the music that did it to me. It was simply reading about Mormon history that deprogrammed me.

One thing's for certain, though. I kept listening to the music and the only thing that changed was my perspective about it.
